Altenew Geometry & Nature Stencils Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

September 18, 2020

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the Altenew Blog Hop Celebrating the new release of stencils called Geometry and Nature.

You’ve probably arrived here from Laurel Beard‘s blog and your next stop will be Svitlana Shayevich.

For more info, you can visit the Altenew Card Blog, there are prizes to be won if you leave comments!

This new release consists of 9 new stencils, which can be used alone or along with Altenew’s other beautiful products.

For my post I made a mixed media art journal page, layering three of the stencils from the release: Castle Motifs Stencil, Color Block Triangle Stencil and Leaf Drops Stencil.

When I couldn’t decide which stencil to use, I decided to use three! To make the journal page feel a little more cohesive, I kept the colours monochromatic and left white spaces so that the whole surface was not covered. It gave the design a little room to breathe and I loved how it turned out in the end.

This 6 x 8 art journal page has a couple of things that I love incorporating in my work: clashing pattern, texture, white space, layering and scripty fonts!

I started with a the Color Block Stencil and blended Forest Glades Mixed Media Ink with an Ink Blending Tool. I made sure to have darker colour in the centre of the page and then lightly blended it out to soften the corners.

For the next layer I used Castle Motifs Stencil with Jet Black Mixed Media Ink. This time I added the ink partially in places where I felt that it needed it. Again, I made sure to leave some white space. For the final layer I added some Embossing Paste through the Leaf Drops Stencil, just adding it to the central part of the page.

To finish off the art journal page, I added a stamped sentiment using the Mega Alpha Brush Stamp Set that I stamped using Obsidian Pigment Ink and cut it out by hand. I added this to the page with some foam adhesive for extra dimension.

I hope that you liked my art journal page! Have you ever tried layering stencils like this in your art and craft work? This is an art journal page, but you could easily recreate this as a card or enlarge it to make a scrapbook layout. I would love to hear what you think 🙂 and thank you so much for stopping by!

Thanks for the inspiring idea. I have oh, so many favourites from this wonderful release that I’d love to be able to add to my craft room.
