A rainbow-ish gel print. Because sometimes you need to make your own rainbows 🌈

Textured wallpaper Anaglypta sample, Liquitex Softbody Acrylic Paints, Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate.

A wide 6 inch brayer/roller really helps to create that ombre effect on a gel plate!

Place the paper on the gel plate while the paint is still wet to pull your print and then wait a few minutes for the paint to dry ⏰️

The actual running commentary that goes through my monkey brain during a gel printing session.

Not featuring: the never ending list of things I need to get done, or getting distracted by random shiny objects: because apparently I'm a magpie in human form 😂

To be fair, the brain noises do tend to quieten down a bit during gel printing because it is 100% like meditation for me.

Even after gel printing for almost 12 years, I still make prints that don't always quite work out. I also love that I have video footage of some of them so I can watch back to see how I can improve or what went "wrong."

This is what I love about gel printing, sometimes unpredictable, and there's always room to learn how to make the process even more magical in between the layers of paint and paper 💕

The imperfect prints aren't failiures, they are experiences which we can learn from.

After all, it's just paper!

Day 21: Layers

For today's print, i chose to do a layered print with a gel print magazine resist transfer. It's a tricky one to get right, but with the right amount of patience and paint, you can get quite stunning results 🔥

I think i could have chosen an image with higher contrast to get a crisper print, but i like how the stencil looks against the background of the model. I believe this is a cutout from a Vogue magazine.
