With all the heavy news and darkness in the world, I have not been making any art for myself.

I've been working on commissions and planning for the next few months, but nothing for my own social media.

Speaking to you all via messages and emails, there are many of you who feel the same way.

It just feels wrong to be making "happy" content or make anything for ourselves right now.

While I was listening to a meeting on zoom, I pulled out my journal to make notes and instead, I automatically started writing these words over and over again.

I prayed with each letter, each stroke, each mark.

Let there be peace.

So what's my rambling thought for the day?

Be the light, keep shining it on things that matter to you, that you believe in.

I cry everyday, but I keep praying.

Art can be the purest reaction to what's happening in the world and your environment or be complete escapism.

Today, I choose expression.

Gel printing with a dried leaf and burlap mesh 🥳

After a very busy few days, I finally got a chance to do me-time gel printing. I bought the mesh a month ago but haven't had a chance to use it!

Don't you just love that texture? 😍

The colour turned out very autumnal, and I love it 🍁

Tips: Make sure to dry the purple layer completely before adding more paint on top. The second layer is still wet when you place your paper on top. Let the paper sit on the gel plate for 2-3 minutes to get all the delicious layers on to your paper pull!

It's soooo satisfying to see all of the gel prints in one place.

Even though I had to stop a few days (hello jetlag) I am so proud that I was able to finish the whole challenge 🔥

I'll be using this as a reference and inspiration guide for future print making ideas 💡

The accordion art journal is almost 8 feet long when it's opened up! 👀

Gel printing with grass seed heads 🌾

Now that the Gelli Arts ABC challenge is over, I have a few big projects that I need to focus on. I'll still be sharing videos and posts, but maybe not daily :)

I had this beautiful gel print sitting in my drafts and hadn't had a chance to share it earlier, don't you just love that pop of blue against the yellow-green?

I used Golden Fluid Acrylics for this print and needed to pull a ghost print for the second one with Matte Gel Medium as the thin paint layer dried fast.

Which one do you prefer? The first one or the second one? I am partial to the first one, but I am biased towards that shade of blue 💙

It's the final day of the challenge and I'm using a clay roller that I have been saying specific for this prompt with acrylic paint and a 4" Round Gelli Arts Gel Plate.

You can use a stencil or create masks using strips of paper too! Or even try laser printed or magazine images for this.

This has been a magical month of gel printing that I thoroughly enjoyed, thank you so much Gelli Arts @gelliarts for hosting the challenge and to you all for watching and playing along! 💕

This print reminds me of Kill Bill 😂

Playing and experimenting with hand cut cardstock masks with a healthy dose of white space.

I had to clean up around the image transfer a bit, but it turned out pretty well. Having a high contrast black and white image really helped.
